CHDC is dedicated to the primary promotion of the general welfare and economic development of low and moderate-income persons and groups in the Cherry Hill community of Baltimore, MD.
CHDC will lead the transformation of the Cherry Hill community into a community full with opportunities and rich with resources where families of all socio-economic backgrounds can live harmoniously.
My Name is Deborah Harris and I have been a resident of the Cherry Hill Community for 60 Years.
I raised my family in this community while living in Public Housing and later investing in homeownership under the Nehemiah Homeowners Development Project. I have also served as Chairman of The Homeowners Association for 13 years.
Soon after moving into Nehemiah Homes, I joined the Cherry Hill Development Corporation as a Board Member. In my twenty-seven years plus on the Board of Directors, I've served in various capacities; Secretary, Parliamentarian, Membership Committee Chair, Fundraising Committee, and as Vice-Chairman of the Board.
I retired from Baltimore City Government in 2018, after dedicating twenty-seven years of service to the citizens of Baltimore City.
As Chair, I have worked to improve the branding of CHDC and implemented strategies and procedures to hold the corporation accountable.
I intend to be committed to working with the community to improve low-income and affordable housing opportunities for those who desire to stay in the Cherry Hill Community, those wanting to return back and those who want the experience of Cherry Hill. I am striving to make our community bigger, better, and stronger.
